“Born and raised in Iowa, I learned from a young age the power of community. After becoming involved with my three childrens’ school activities and creating programs like Walking School Bus, I ran to serve as the North Liberty Mayor in 2014, becoming the first female ever to serve in the role. I made investing in the community with important services like intra-city public transit, raising the minimum age, and creating more affordable housing my top priorities. As mayor, I created innovative solutions and implemented inclusion services that made the diversifying and growing city more accessible to all. ”
“After winning the election to serve House District 77 in 2016, I was recognized as an effective leader who was able to work across the aisle and get results for my constituents. A progressive voice for all Iowans–including those who are often voiceless– I’ve worked on a variety of issues such as expanding emergency medical services (EMS) for rural Iowans, protecting health care access and services, and giving local government municipalities the ability to best serve their residents. Currently, I serve on the Administration and Rules, Commerce, Local Government (Ranking Member), State Government and Ways and Means Committee, as well as Administrative Rules Review and State Government Efficiency Review committees.”
